Paper Smooches SPARKS Dec. 28-Jan. 3

Paper Smooches is having a Designer Drafts Challenge this week.  Here is the designer sketch:

Isn't it a great sketch?  I did have a lot of ideas with this sketch, and made a few and discarded them.  I ended up liking this idea the best.
I know, I know it is barely winter but I want Spring!  Normally I like Winter, I enjoy snow, but we haven't had very much, just gloom and kinda weird warm temps.  :/  The stamp set I used was PS Green Thumb which is one of my favorite Paper Smooches stamp sets.  I also used Alphadot for the sentiment and the Stitched dies for the 'dirt'.  I colored everything with Copics and cut it out, and added some twine to finish it up.

Thanks for coming by and have a Happy New Year!!

Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge Dec 21-27

I hope everyone's Christmas was fantastic, mine certainly was.  I got to see friends and family and I loved every minute of it.

I started this card for the Paper Smooches SPARKS Anything Goes Challenge  for this week on

Tuesday last week and couldn't ever find the time to finish it totally.  Well, I finished it today and I really like how it came out.

I think they are having a lot of fun at their New Year's Eve party!! The Paper Smooches stamp sets used were Birthday Buddies, Alphadot and Hullabaloo. I stamped, colored and cut out the balloons and images.  I added 'confetti' with a white gel pen .   I love googly eyes, so I added some of those too! :)

Happy New Year and thanks for coming by....

Lawnscaping Challenge 96

Merry Christmas is the Lawnscaping Challenge for this week.

I needed to make a card for by hair stylist (appointment tomorrow!) and I thought why not make one for this challenge at the same time.  This is my card:

I used Lawn Fawn's Let It Snow stamp set,  Stitched Journaling Card and Stitched Hillsides dies.  I embossed the snowflake background with texture paste. The sequins, twine and patterned paper are also Lawn Fawn.   This card started out as another idea, but I changed my mine and I like this idea better. ;)

Thanks for coming by.

Paper Smooches SPARKS Dec 14-20 Challenge & Other Stuff...

Paper Smooches Challenge this week is Picture Perfect.  I love the colors in this photo.

This is the card I made:
I watercolored the background and then used watercolor pencils on the hearts, and mounted it all on patterned paper adhered it to the card stock.  The spool was wrapped with some bakers twine and I used matte medium on the curled twine to stiffen and glue it down. Paper Smooches Needle A Little Love stamp set was used for all the images.

I have been busy crafting, making Christmas cards, decorating, and baking so haven't done a lot on my blog. ;)   Here are some pics of some of the projects I did.

This is my granddaughers Christmas stocking. She will be 14 months old on Christmas day.    I worked on this off and on for 2 months and completed it a couple of days ago.  She is our Princess so I knew I had to make a Princess stocking for her.  I made all the stockings for each family member and she is the latest!
This is one of two trees I made.  The base is a paper mache tree, I found mine on Amazon.  You just punch out a whole bunch of circles from patterned paper and glue them to the tree starting on the bottom.   The box will be used to hold the cards I give away as gifts for the holiday.  I just followed a video on You Tube on how to make a A2 card box.  This was pretty easy, it is all one piece, and doesn't have a seperate lid, so you only cut and fold one piece of paper, much easier.  I made them in several colors.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope all your holiday preparations are going well..

Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge Dec. 7-13

Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge this week is Anything Goes.

This is what I decided to make:

This card started when I saw the little bird on the Paper Smooches Winter Groves set and thought it looked like an 'R', and decided to use it that way.  :-)   The tree is from Winter Groves also and I used enamel accents to make the snow.  The other stamp sets I used were PS Holly Jolly, Swanky Snow Dudes and the snow hill was made with PS Stitched Wise Dies.  The background is distressed ink over embossed snow that I made with a stencil.

Thanks for coming by and see ya later.

Freshly Made Sketches # 165

Freshly Made Sketches #165  challenge is a sketch by Cindy L.
I hope you can see the sketch, it is pretty light, not sure why it is so light.  Most people  think of Valentines Day when there is a heart on the card.  I wanted to use the heart but not make it a valentine.  This is what I made.
The chevron background is embossing paste tinted with Crushed Olive Distress Ink and stenciled. I also distressed the heart with the same color.  The heart die is from SSS, and the bird is a Purple Onion stamp designed by Stacey Yacula (one of my favorites!) The sentiment is from Purple Onion and it is embossed in white.

See ya later, thanks for stopping by.

Paper Smooches SPARKS Nov. 30-Dec. 6

This weeks Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge is Anything Goes.

I wanted to make a shaker card for my grandson, trying a new method that Jennifer McGuire used, she has a video about this if you want to see it demonstrated Shaker Card Tips.

Jennifer uses fun foam (those thin foam sheets for children's crafts) instead of adhesive foam. This is the card I made:
I used Paper Smooches Holly Jolly and Winter Grooves stamp sets for this card. I distressed the background and stamped snowflakes in white dye ink and colored the snowman with Copics.  I cut a circle slightly larger than the window panel in the foam and adhered it to the window panel  and then adhered this to the  background that you have filled with sequins or whatever you use for the shaker. The foam is the dimension you would normally get with the adhesive strips but it is much more attractive. :)  I used liquid glue, because I wanted to make sure I could move it around a bit if I needed to, just make sure you don't get it on the window panel, it is kinda hard to get off.  (Yep, I got glue on mine) :)  Jennifer also adhered some sequins to the background panel, so when they fell to the bottom of the window, some would still show in the window.  I never liked the way they all fell and you really couldn't see them, so now problem solved!

Thanks for coming by, see ya later!

Freshly Made Sketches 164

The challenge sketch  for Freshly Made Sketches  this week is:

This is how I interpreted the sketch:
These are Purple Onion stamps designed by Stacey Yacula, I am seriously in love with all her designs!!  The sentiment is Ellen Hutson stamp designed by Julie Ebersole, another of my favorites.  The images are colored with copics, and I cut out the snowman and popped him up on some foam dots.  I also added some sequins, because I can't help myself.  :)

Thanks from coming by.

Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge Nov 23-29

Paper Smooches Challenge for this week is a  Designer Drafts Challenge.

This is the sketch:
I actually made a card for the challenge earlier this week but I was kinda not feeling it. Sooo I made a second card.  I am glad I did I like it better. :)  Here is my card:

I used Paper Smooches Swanky Snowdudes stamp set along with Holy Holiday for the sentiment.  I did use a SSS Falling Snow stencil on the card base using white ink.  All the images are colored with copics.

Thanks for stopping by.

Lawnscaping Challenge 94

Lawnscaping Challenge 94 is Count Me In.  The theme is to include a number somewhere on your card.

Wow there are a lot of ways to go with numbers, right?  I have always loved the song 12 Days of Christmas, so I decided to use that theme somehow.  Now I knew I wasn't gonna be able to fit the whole song on a card, so I had to scale it down somewhat.  This is what I chose to make.

I love these birds from Lawn Fawn Winter Sparrows set.  This is actually from last year and I used the set a lot then.  I used the coordinating die cut and colored them with Copics.  I also used Lawn Fawn's Milo's ABC's, Peace Joy Love stamp sets and Lawn Fawn's Forest border and Stitched Hillside borders.  I embossed snowflakes in the background and then used distress ink for the sky.  I think I like this a lot. :)

See ya later and thanks for coming by.

Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge Nov 16-22

This week's Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge is Anything Goes.  I had a couple of ideas and actually made two cards and up until this post wasn't sure which one I was going to use.

This is the one that decided on:

I used this shiny, vellum type paper  that I bought at Micheals to make one of the tags, it is really pretty but it doesn't show up well in the photo. (sigh). There is no sunshine to help with the picture, just cold and snow! It seems to be cold everywhere though, oh well :)  I used patterned paper for the other tag.  The snowflakes are Paper Smooches Snowflake dies and the Season Greetings is a die from Paper Smooches Christmas Dies 2. I did put some sequins in the middle of the snowflakes to help with the shine.

Thanks for stopping by.

CAS(E) this Sketch #100

This is a milestone for CAS(E) this Sketch, in that this is their 100th challenge.  Great stuff!  Here is the sketch for this week:

I love this, it is really unique!  I had to think about this one for a bit.  Here is what I came up with:

The stripes are made with washi tape. I die cut and colored the latte cup with copics and  added glossy accents to the heart, although it is a bit hard to see. We don't have a lot of sunny days here in NE Ohio in the fall, (or the winter for that matter) so I have to rely on artificial lighting when I take my photos, that usually means everything looks a little flat. :(    I added enamel dots and Wink of Stella to the card also.  This is a stamp set and die cut from Simon Says Stamp.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #162

This week at Freshly Made Sketches the sketch is by Kim Singdahlsen.  This is the sketch:

Lotta possibilities with this one!  I didn't want to go the usual route with patterned paper, so I decided to stencil the scene.
I didn't have a rectangle stencil so I made one by die cutting one from leftover packaging.  This is not how this carded started out, meaning I had another idea but I couldn't recreate it the way I wanted to, but I like this version too.  I used a  snowflake die cut  (Paper Smooches) from silver foil cardstock and a stencil (SSS) that has trees and hills, so I masked off a lot to get what I wanted.  I did spray with some shimmer spray and added silver sequins (Pretty Pink Posh).  The sentiment is embossed in platinum embossing powder.

Thanks for stopping by.

Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge Nov 9-15

Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge this week is a Picture Perfect Challenge

Isn't that great inspiration?   I love it!!  Here is how I interpreted it.
I loved the color scheme and the wood background.  I watercolored the background with a distress marker to resemble wood.   Then I added strips of paper with the sentiment embossed in black on the strips.  I used Paper Smooches Alphadot for the sentiment.  The stars are from the  PS die cut set Halloween Icons.  I am going to send this to one of my favorite aunts who is 93, this sentiment reminds me of her so much! :)

Have a great day and thanks for coming by.

CAS(E) this Sketch! Challenge #99

CAS(E) this Sketch #99     has a really great sketch for this challenge.

This is how I interpreted it:

This is a stamp set from Simon Says Stamp that I really like and haven't really had a chance to use it much.  I stamped the envelope images and cut them out and stacked them all together.

Thanks for stopping by, see ya later...

OCC Holiday Card Workshop Day 6/ Freshly Made Sketches

Today was a bonus day at OCC, and it was great to have another lesson.

I am also going to enter this card into Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #161.

Here is my card:
I was inspired by the card from Debby Hughes which was beautiful (as usual). I embossed the image in white and then colored the image with colored pencils, added sequins and twine.  Then I used a stencil and texture paste for the snow on the card base.  After finishing the image, I mounted it on foam squares on charcoal card stock.
