OCC Holiday Workshop 2022-Day 10

Today's lesson was Interactive Cards.  Both examples were great! I chose to do a card similar to Jennifer McGuire's, and made a shaker card that contains a gift card that can be opened by the recipient.  I also loved the demonstration by Caly Person, and when I have more time I will certainly make it.  What I loved about it, was you didn't need special dies or tools to make it.

The only trouble I had was finding packaging I hadn't thrown away. I did find one that I could use and it worked well. I also made a gift card, since I didn't have one available, so that is totally fake btw. lol I created the background from a dot stencil, using Oxide inks.

Used:

Old packaging from a stamp set, SSS HoHoHo tag die, gold glitter paper behind the die, and various sequings. Distress Oxide Mowed Lawn and Candied Apple, with SSS White ink,

OCC Holiday Workshop 2022-Day 9

Today was all about snowflakes.  I love snowflakes and make a lot of cards with them.  I made a card using die cut snowflakes and a snowflake cover plate.  I love the shine on this card.  It is one of my favorites.  I die cut the snowflake 4 times from white cardstock, gluing two together, and then cutting one from glitter cardstock.  I staggered them all to create some dimension.  I used some baubles in different areas of the snowflake.  I cut the cover plate from glitter cardstock too.  I wish the shine showed up in the photo more.

Used:

Memory Box snowflake cover plate, SSS Snowflake die, Sentiment is from SSS Christmas sentiment strips, and Trinity Stamp Bubble Bath baubles.

OCC Holiday Workshop 2022-Day 8

Today's lesson was Hot Foiling.  I have a Glimmer Hot Foil machine, but I have not used it very much.  I seem to always over foil or get things crooked.  I learned a lot today about hot foiling with a hot foiling machine and also with a laminator.  I didn't have a lot of issues today, but I know I need a lot more practice with the Glimmer machine.

Used:

SSS Sketched Leafy Wreath Hot Foil Plate which also has the die cut included.  I colored the leaves with Altenew markers.   Yana's Christmas  Sentiments from Spellbinders, which I foiled directly on the cardstock.  I used TIm Holtz dies for the ribbon and baubles from Trinity Stamps.

OCC Holiday Workshop 2022-Day 7

Embossing Folders were the lesson today.  The demonstrations were great!  I made a card using ink blending and an embossing folder similar to the lesson by Koren Wiskman.  This is what I made:

It was hard getting a photo that didn't have a lot of reflection from the silver card stock. This is the best I could get it after photographing it many times. I like the way it turned out.  I die cut some snowflakes from vellum and then used some iridescent jewels for the middle of the snowflakes.

Used:

Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass, SSS 3D embossing folder, My Favorite Things Joy die, Trinity Stamps baubles, Various snowflake dies.

OCC Holiday Workshop 2022-Day 6

Today's demonstration was about using small stamps.  I made a card using some of the elements of Kristina Werner's card.  I liked the background she made and wanted to incorporate that.  I used a comic strip die and ink blended the sections in different colors, which is what I loved most about Kristina's card.  I then colored and die cut small stamps.  Here is what I made:

Used:

Distress Oxides Twisted Citron, Evergreen Bough, Cracked Pistachio and Candied Apple to ink blend the panels.  I copic colored the  Mama Elephant reindeer and cut them using the coordinating dies.  I used some Glossy Accents on the reindeer noses (does this make them all Rudolph?) and the tree lights.

OCC Holiday Workshop 2022-Day 5

Using scraps was demonstrated today.  Now I have tons of scraps,so this was right up my alley.   Jennifer McGuire demonstrated many different techniques using scraps, it was great. lol   I don't know how she comes up with all these ideas, and she does them flawlessly.  I did try one technique from today's video that I really couldn't work out, but I will try it again to make it work . It was kinda hard picking one technique to try, so I have many others to try in the future.   Here.s is what I did:

Used:

Avery Elle stamps for sentiment, Sizzix circle dies, Tim Holtz Star background die for the stars and also for the ribbons on top of the ornament.  SSS 3D embossing folder.

OCC Holiday Workshop 2022-Day 4

Ink blending was the topic for today.  I love ink blending and always look for new and different ways to blend and to get better at it.  I chose to make a card following Kristina Werner's demonstration.  I followed her method of ink blending using similar colors but changing it up a bit.  The card design is different but I used the same idea.

Used:

Cracked Pistachio, Fossilized Amber, Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron, Evergreen Bough (my favorite), and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxides for the ink blending on the trees.  Tim Holtz Snow Globe #1 dies for the trees and stars. Sentiment is from Ellen Hudson embossed in Ranger Gold.

OCC Holiday Workshop 2022-Day3

The lesson today demonstrated easy backgrounds.  Gel Plates and Stencils were used to create backgrounds.  I did not have very many supplies to accomplish those backgrounds.  I chose to create a background created from washi tape.  I followed the demonstrator,Nathifa Sligh's, instructions on creating the card.  I added a sentiment and embellishments of my own to finish the card.  I really liked the way it turned out.

Used:

Tim Holtz Washi Tapes, Concord and 9th die for greeting, Simon Says Stamp Stencil for snow using  Texture Paste.

OCC Holiday Workshop 2022-Day 2

Today's lesson is all about plaids.  Different techniques were demonstrated to create the plaid backgrounds.  I really did not have any of the supplies used for any of the examples, lol, so I improvised.  I used Post-It Tape 1" strips to create the pattern.  I cut the stips into 1/2" strips and created the plaid background.  I have to say this was not my first attempt, around the 3rd time I was happy with what I made.  In retrospect, even though I like the colors I chose, I would have used more traditional colors.

The stripes are created with Distress Oxides Twisted Citron and Barn Door.  In this photo the stripes look yellow and pink, but they are much darker IRL. I used a Memory Box die for the sled and a Tim Holtz die set for the greenery.  I was going to draw a gold line on some of the strips, but  NONE of my gold pens would work.  Sigh....

OCC-Holiday Card Workshop-2022-Day 1

This lesson concentrated on using die cuts on your holiday cards.  Jennifer McGuire demonstrated several different Faux Laser Cut cards.  All of them were beautiful.  I decided to make a version of one of them.  I also loved Dawn Woleslagle card demonstration and want to try that soon too.

In this card I used the following:

Spellbinders Embroidered Triangles  border die, Be Merry die from Pink Fresh, Simon Says Stamp Etched Berry Branch die.  I inked the background with Distress Oxide Saltwater Taffy, Fired Brick and Candied Apple.  I splattered the leaves and background with gold paint from Gansai Tambi Starry Colors.

OCC Day 10-Spring Card Camp 2022

Last day of OCC classes. I have really enjoyed this class, I have learned a lot of new techniques, and you really didn't have to have any special equipment, just the basics. I am sure I will use these techniques many times in the future.

Today's lesson was Rainbows and Patterns.  I really loved the demonstration by Gina K., and chose to do a card similar to her technique.  Here is my card:

OCC Day 9-Spring Card Camp 2022

Todays lesson was inlay die cuts and stacked offset die cuts.  I wanted to do the technique demonstrated by Jennifer McGuire, which was inlay die cuts. I have to tell you that I was a little apprehensive about doing the die cuts.  I was thinking I would have to do the inlay die cuts several times to get them right.  Well...I did it the first time I tried! Yay.  Jennifer does make things look so easy and she is a good teacher.  Here is what I made:

I ink blended the flowers and leaves with Distress Oxides.  The sentiment is black card stock. I really liked doing this technique, and probably use it more in the future.  I did cut a lot of flowers and leaves so I can make another in no time at all. That was my failsafe in case I made mistakes. :)

OCC Day 8-Spring Card Camp 2022

 Hi,

Today was Pretty Die Cut Flowers.  The cards made were so pretty.  I am going to have to get the dies so I can recreate the cards. I think my card is a combo of both demonstrations.  Here is what I made:

I stenciled the background with an SSS stencil  I die cut the flowers and ink blended with Distress Inks.  I used some enamel dots for the center of the flowers and also as accents.

OCC Day 7-Spring Card Camp 2022

Today's lesson was Stacked Die Cuts.  Both demonstrations were fantastic.  I chose to do the technique done by Victoria Calvin.  Her card totally looked like she had created it using a 3D embossing folder.

Here is what I made:

I die cut lots of different sized circles, stacked them together and placed them on the card front.  I do like the way it turned out.  I think I will do this again, but color the circles in rainbow colors.  I added a banner to tie in the party theme.

OCC DAY 6--Spring Card Camp 2022

Hello...I had my eyes dilated today for an eye examination...hope everything looks ok.  Today was Color Blocking.  We had just beautiful examples today.  I loved them all.  I did the card demonstrated by Keisha Charles.  So lovely!  Anyway, this is what I did:

I hope this is not blurry or out of focus, cause I really can't tell.  I used Distress Oxides to ink blend the panels.

OCC Day 5- Spring Card Camp 2022

The lesson today was Stamped Wreaths.  We were shown two different techniques on how to stamp a wreath.  Both were beautiful examples.  I have done free form wreaths before and, tbh, I am not very good at it. lol  But I gave it my best shot.  Here is what I made.

This ended up being 4" x 4", I started off with a larger piece of cardstock but things went sideways. I had no leaf shapes that were uniform enough for what I had in mind, so I decided on circles.   All in all I like how it turned out.  I need more practice for sure.

OCC Day 4-Spring Card Camp 2022

Today's lesson was Emboss Resist.  All the demonstrations today were fantastic.  I chose to do the technique by Heather Hoffman.  It was a beautiful example.

I really had all kinds of issues today.  First I layered the stencil upside down! over my embossed piece and had to start all over again.  Sigh... Then when I had finished the second time, I trimmed the piece wrong and ended up having to put a frame around it to balance it out. AND I could not get a decent photo for anything!  I finally went with what I had, I was tired and really didn't want to start all over again. :)  I really like this look though, and will try it again real soon.

OCC Day 3- Spring Card Camp 2022

Today's lesson was 2 for 1 day.  This technique created 2 or 3 backgrounds from 1 ink application.  I loved this technique, because who doesn't love getting something with minimal effort?  I used the technique demonstrated by Kristina Werner.  Here is what I made:

The card on the left was the watercolor application and the one on the right was the original imprint.  I didn't have a gel plate so I used the back of a cover stamp.  Next time I will apply my ink darker to getter brighter colors.

OCC Day 2 - Spring Card Camp 2022

I am really enjoying this class.  There are techniques that I am not familiar with and, so far, they are really easy to do.  Today, I chose to do the technique demonstrated by Cathy Zielske.  It is called the Joseph's Coat technique, and I had never heard of it, and I love it.  Let me tell you, I was very nervous when I first applied the black ink, but it all turned out well.  lol  Here is what I made:

I used Distress Oxides Ripe Persimmon, Mustard Seed and Worn Lipstick.  I wish I had used a darker color than Warm Lipstick for better contrast, but overall I am pleased with the results.  I used the Lawn Fawn Hey Lady Stamp set for the images. I also added a few mini stars for embellishment.

OCC Day 1- Spring Card Camp 2022

Isn't it great that it is Spring?  And this is a great way to celebrate, taking a OCC class!!  I decided to do the ink lifting using the stencil technique.  I loved both techniques but really didn't have a stamp that could be used with Jennifer McGuire's technique.  This is what I made:

This is a SSS stencil, using Distress Oxide Inks Evergreen Bough, Broken China and Twisted Citron.  I added some die cut leaves, branch, and bird along with the word Hi.  I put it all on a piece of vellum that was printed with some leaves. I loved this technique and I'll definitely use it on future projects.
