Pretty Pink Posh Blog Challenge-Sequin Shaker Blog Hop

Hi,
Pretty Pink Posh is having a Blog Hop and the challenge is to make a sequin shaker card.  Now I have never, ever, made a shaker card, did I say never?  Anywho I figured this was as good a time as any to get my feet wet.  I really like shaker cards but haven't gotten around to making one. (I think I was a little intimidated)  I watched Pauline's  great video on the Pretty Pink Posh blog which describes how to make a shaker card and I really learned alot!  If you have a chance head over to  the Pretty Pink Posh blog and check out the details here is the link: http://prettypinkposh.com/2014/04/sequin-shaker-blog-hop.html
Here is my shaker card:
After a couple of failed attempts (when I realized measurements really DO matter!) I got this together.  I think for a first attempt, all in all, it isn't too bad. :)  The stamp is Avery Elle' Thanks a Bunch'.

Online Card Class-Watercolor

Hi,
I will be participating in the new class from OCC-Watercolor.  Even though the class doesn't start for another couple of weeks, the instructors were nice enough to demonstrate some techniques and equipment that will be used for the classes.  I have watercolored before, just a little though.  Kristina Werner made a great video on how to paint swatches of your watercolors on a chart and number them so that you have a visual reference of the colors in your watercolor set. This was a great idea and really a great tool so I made one. I don't know how well you can see them, but I did number the colors according to how they are lined up in my watercolor set.
Kristina also suggested that if you mix a color you like, paint an example of it and label it with the numbers of the colors you used to make the new color.

Another suggestion was to paint a plaid background with your watercolors as practice.  I loved this idea, here is my example:
I love this color combo, but the green was not one that I had in my set, so I made it by combining colors, you can see it on my chart as the first swatch on the right side.

I can't wait for this class to begin and I plan to practice some more, for sure.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hero Arts Challenge #42-Layer Cake

Hello,
Tomorrow is Easter, and it will be a busy time for me, family all coming to dinner, YAY!!  I thought I would post this card to the A Blog Named Hero Challenge #42 Layer Cake.  Here is the link to the challenge: http://ablognamedhero.blogspot.com/2014/04/challenge-42-layer-cake.html.  And here is my card:
I used a brick stencil for the background and cut 'petals' for my flower from a 1 1/2 " circle punch and then cut two petals from each circle and made the flower.  Also in the background is the Simon Says Stamp die cut Clustered Leaves. The first petals are  glued on  and then I added some foam dots for the petals on top to form the flower for some dimension.  The stamped greeting is from Avery Elle Laurels.  The center of the flower is vellum that I stamped with a circle, embossed and then added an enamel dot to the center.  Then I added a couple more enamel dots, just because I like enamel dots, and can't stop using them!  I used Wink of Stella on the petals for some shimmer but it doesn't show up very well. *sigh*  I wish Wink of Stella photographed better.

Hope you like and have a great Easter holiday.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Animal Antics

Hi there,

SSS Wednesday Challenge is Animal Antics and I decided to enter with this card I made from an Art Impressions stamp.   I love AI stamps.:)

This is the Art Impressions Betty stamp singing her heart out with her pets. The dog, cat and bird singing along is so darn cute!   I colored her with copics and used the SSS Bubble Talk 2 die for the talk bubble.  I added a couple of sequins and called it done.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge-Happy Easter and/or Sweet Treats

Hi there,
I made another card to post the the SSS Wednesday Challenge Happy Easter and/or Sweet Treats.  I   I still have the desire to make Easter cards so I have to get it out of my system. :)  Here is the card:
I used Tim Holtz Vintage Market Alphabet and the background is the Hero Arts Striped background stamp.  I also used Tim Holtz Tattered Florals for the flowers and added some enamel dots and sequins.  I literally got the idea for this card just before I fell asleep last nite so I quickly sketched it and then made it today.

ME Photo Inspiration Challenge and SSS Wenesday Challenge-Easter and/or Sweet Treats

Hi,
It has been awhile since I posted but I have been busy, busy, busy!  Anyway I plan to enter this card into the Mama Elephant Photo Inspiration Challenge featuring this photo:

And this is my card and since it also falls in the SSS challenge category I plan to enter it there too.
I stenciled the background and then layered patterned papers in the color theme for the ME challenge.  I also used the Mama Elephant stamp set Honey Bunny.  My goodness, I love this bunny, and I used him a lot on my Easter cards. :)  I distressed the flag and then stamped one of the greetings from the Honey Bunny set. I colored the bunny with copics. The sentiments and images on the Honey Bunny set can be used for other occasions other than Easter, that is another reason I love it so much.

I am also entering this into the SSS Wednesday Challenge.  That is Easter and/or Sweet Treats challenge.
