Online Card Class-Day 12-Holiday Card Workshop

 Hi,

Today's lesson was Storybook Coloring.  This is a different way to approach copic coloring.  I liked it a lot but wasn't sure how quick I could adapt to it.  As I was coloring the image I found myself falling into typical copic coloring and had to stop and start again.

This is not a Christmas stamp, but I love it so much and want to use it as much as I can.  I felt it could definitely be a Christmas scene, just needed a little tweaking, adding falling snow helped.

I don't think I quite got the coloring style, but I'll practice.

Thanks for stopping....

Online Card Class-Day 11-Holiday Card Workshop

The lesson today was Just Add Snow.  I love adding snow to projects and do try to find different ways to get it on my cards.

I made this card with a snow pen.  Now I have two of these pens and neither one of them worked all that well.  They are kinda old, but I got as much as I could get out of them.  I added it to the letters.  I die cut snowflakes and added embossing glitter, which unfortunately did not photo very well. :(.  I added a penguin and a little snowball to his cap.

That's all for today.....

Online Card Class-Day 10-Holiday Card Workshop

Today's lesson was Stencil Resist.  Two techniques were demonstrated.  I chose the technique using texture paste and a stencil on watercolor paper and watercolor markers.

After the paste was dried, I used Zig markers, in shades of green, and painted in the area  between the design.  I sprayed it with water and let the water spread the color.  After everything was dry, I cut a sentiment from  red metallic paper and used  foam dots to adhere it the card front.

The second technique  was to use a stencil on watercolor paper that had been blended with distress inks and using a baby wipe or wet paper towel to lift the ink up through the stencil.  Honestly I tried this a couple of times, and all I got were blobs, lol!  I think I need to practice!

Online Card Class-Day 9-Holiday Card Workshop

Today's lesson was hot foiling and coloring with either copics, pencils, or watercolor.  I don't have a hot foil system,  but it was suggested that if you don't that you could emboss and then color an image.  I decided to emboss an image in gold and then colored it with copics.  I embossed the greeting too and used some gold splashes on the card.

Have a great day....

Online Card Class-Day 8-Holiday Card Workshop

Today's lesson was Themed Envelopes.  I love mail art and try to catch any video that demonstrates it.  Kristina Werner made an envelope using alcohol inks.  I did not have Yupo paper in the size she used and not any big enough to make an envelope, but I did enjoy what she made, but couldn't reproduce it right now.    Nathifa Sligh demonstrated another envelope example done with watercolor paper.

I used a stencil and created a winter themed scene on the front of a A2 card sized envelope.  I used my We are Memory Keepers envelope punch board to make the envelope.  This was pretty easy but it is also a simple scene.  I think if you were going to mass produce envelopes for your cards, a simple scene would work the best.

Here is what I made:

Online Card Class-Day 7- Holiday Card Workshop

Today's lesson  was about creating blended backgrounds with a little extra something, something.  Dana Joy  and Pocono Pam created beautiful cards.

Using a snowfall background stamp I embossed the card front with silver embossing powder.  I blended Twisted Citron Oxide Distress Ink over the embossing.  I put this on top of another piece that I had embossed the edges in silver.  I then added a die cut sentiment and some sequins.

Sorry the photo doesn't do the colors justice.  It is pretty overcast here and I had no natural light for the picture.

Online Card Class-Day 6-Holiday Card Workshop

Different ways to use stencils was the lesson today.  I made a card similar to Laura Bassen, I didn't have the stencil that Laura used, but had one that featured one tree like the one she used.  I just moved the stencil from one place to another on the card . I chose to use different shades of green, instead of the rainbow of colors she used.

I added a sentiment and some gold baubles.  I think this technique gives a lot of dimension to the stenciled tree.

See you later...

Online Card Class-Day 5-Holiday Card Workshop

 Hello,

Today's lesson was dry embossing.  This is a great technique and the examples were lovely.

I haven't used this technique much so I was glad that it was part of the class.  I created a card by dry embossing a stencil.

Here it is:

You can see the stencil detail in the background.  It is subtle, but IRL it looks so pretty.  Love this technique.

See you later....

Online Card Class-Day 4-Holiday Card Workshop

Hi,

Gel plate stamping was the lesson for today.    I don't have a gel plate, although it does look interesting and may try it in the future.   I did like the demonstration by Lydia Fiedler, she explained it very well.

Since I don't have a gel plate,  I used a  3D embossing folder, which was part of the demonstration also.  I used a flat sponge applicator and applied  white ink to the raised side of the embossing folder.  I added a die cut sentiment in matte gold and some gold sequins.

This is what I made:

Online Card Class-Day 3-Holiday Card Workshop

 Hi,

Day 3 demonstrated how to create Infinity or Full Card Shaker Cards.  I like shaker cards, but always hated the bulk of the cards.  Hard to send in the mail and a lot of steps to create.  I have seen this method of shaker cards demonstrated before but hadn't tried it.  I found it a lot easier and with way less bulk. The demonstrator, Caly Person,  really explained the process very well.

Here is what I made:

I did have a heck of a time getting a photo of the card without glare.  This photo is the best of the bunch.

Online Card Class-Day 2-Holiday Card Workshop-2021

 Day 2..

Today's lesson was mass producing cards.  Although I typically don't  mass product cards, I do reproduce some, maybe 2-3 times, never more than that.  If I do mass produce, I change something on each card to make it different from the others .I like to create a lot of different cards. (It helps reconcile all the Christmas products I buy lol)

This is what I made, I made two:

I die cut two sentiments in silver card stock, for each card.  I heat embossed the ornaments in silver, and added a line, drawn with a Versamark marker, and heat embossed it in silver. Then I added some clear drops, I added silver sequins to the second card.  This card took about 30 minutes, maybe less.  I am happy with the way it turned out.

Thanks for looking.

Online Card Class- Day 1- Holiday Card Workshop

Hi,

This was the first day of the Online Card Class 2021 Holiday Card Workshop.  There were some beautiful examples today from Jennifer McGuire and Richard Breaks on adding light to your cards.  I attempted to make a card like Jennifer's.  I am going to try to make a card like Richard's soon, I think I need a little more practice for his.

Here is what I did:

I tried to get a picture with the most sparkle.  It is kind of hard to photograph sparkles, but it came out pretty good.

Have a great day.
