OCC Holiday Workshop 2022-Day 10

Today's lesson was Interactive Cards.  Both examples were great! I chose to do a card similar to Jennifer McGuire's, and made a shaker card that contains a gift card that can be opened by the recipient.  I also loved the demonstration by Caly Person, and when I have more time I will certainly make it.  What I loved about it, was you didn't need special dies or tools to make it.

The only trouble I had was finding packaging I hadn't thrown away. I did find one that I could use and it worked well. I also made a gift card, since I didn't have one available, so that is totally fake btw. lol I created the background from a dot stencil, using Oxide inks.

Used:

Old packaging from a stamp set, SSS HoHoHo tag die, gold glitter paper behind the die, and various sequings. Distress Oxide Mowed Lawn and Candied Apple, with SSS White ink,

OCC Holiday Workshop 2022-Day 9

Today was all about snowflakes.  I love snowflakes and make a lot of cards with them.  I made a card using die cut snowflakes and a snowflake cover plate.  I love the shine on this card.  It is one of my favorites.  I die cut the snowflake 4 times from white cardstock, gluing two together, and then cutting one from glitter cardstock.  I staggered them all to create some dimension.  I used some baubles in different areas of the snowflake.  I cut the cover plate from glitter cardstock too.  I wish the shine showed up in the photo more.

Used:

Memory Box snowflake cover plate, SSS Snowflake die, Sentiment is from SSS Christmas sentiment strips, and Trinity Stamp Bubble Bath baubles.

OCC Holiday Workshop 2022-Day 8

Today's lesson was Hot Foiling.  I have a Glimmer Hot Foil machine, but I have not used it very much.  I seem to always over foil or get things crooked.  I learned a lot today about hot foiling with a hot foiling machine and also with a laminator.  I didn't have a lot of issues today, but I know I need a lot more practice with the Glimmer machine.

Used:

SSS Sketched Leafy Wreath Hot Foil Plate which also has the die cut included.  I colored the leaves with Altenew markers.   Yana's Christmas  Sentiments from Spellbinders, which I foiled directly on the cardstock.  I used TIm Holtz dies for the ribbon and baubles from Trinity Stamps.

OCC Holiday Workshop 2022-Day 7

Embossing Folders were the lesson today.  The demonstrations were great!  I made a card using ink blending and an embossing folder similar to the lesson by Koren Wiskman.  This is what I made:

It was hard getting a photo that didn't have a lot of reflection from the silver card stock. This is the best I could get it after photographing it many times. I like the way it turned out.  I die cut some snowflakes from vellum and then used some iridescent jewels for the middle of the snowflakes.

Used:

Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass, SSS 3D embossing folder, My Favorite Things Joy die, Trinity Stamps baubles, Various snowflake dies.

OCC Holiday Workshop 2022-Day 6

Today's demonstration was about using small stamps.  I made a card using some of the elements of Kristina Werner's card.  I liked the background she made and wanted to incorporate that.  I used a comic strip die and ink blended the sections in different colors, which is what I loved most about Kristina's card.  I then colored and die cut small stamps.  Here is what I made:

Used:

Distress Oxides Twisted Citron, Evergreen Bough, Cracked Pistachio and Candied Apple to ink blend the panels.  I copic colored the  Mama Elephant reindeer and cut them using the coordinating dies.  I used some Glossy Accents on the reindeer noses (does this make them all Rudolph?) and the tree lights.

OCC Holiday Workshop 2022-Day 5

Using scraps was demonstrated today.  Now I have tons of scraps,so this was right up my alley.   Jennifer McGuire demonstrated many different techniques using scraps, it was great. lol   I don't know how she comes up with all these ideas, and she does them flawlessly.  I did try one technique from today's video that I really couldn't work out, but I will try it again to make it work . It was kinda hard picking one technique to try, so I have many others to try in the future.   Here.s is what I did:

Used:

Avery Elle stamps for sentiment, Sizzix circle dies, Tim Holtz Star background die for the stars and also for the ribbons on top of the ornament.  SSS 3D embossing folder.

OCC Holiday Workshop 2022-Day 4

Ink blending was the topic for today.  I love ink blending and always look for new and different ways to blend and to get better at it.  I chose to make a card following Kristina Werner's demonstration.  I followed her method of ink blending using similar colors but changing it up a bit.  The card design is different but I used the same idea.

Used:

Cracked Pistachio, Fossilized Amber, Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron, Evergreen Bough (my favorite), and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxides for the ink blending on the trees.  Tim Holtz Snow Globe #1 dies for the trees and stars. Sentiment is from Ellen Hudson embossed in Ranger Gold.

OCC Holiday Workshop 2022-Day3

The lesson today demonstrated easy backgrounds.  Gel Plates and Stencils were used to create backgrounds.  I did not have very many supplies to accomplish those backgrounds.  I chose to create a background created from washi tape.  I followed the demonstrator,Nathifa Sligh's, instructions on creating the card.  I added a sentiment and embellishments of my own to finish the card.  I really liked the way it turned out.

Used:

Tim Holtz Washi Tapes, Concord and 9th die for greeting, Simon Says Stamp Stencil for snow using  Texture Paste.

OCC Holiday Workshop 2022-Day 2

Today's lesson is all about plaids.  Different techniques were demonstrated to create the plaid backgrounds.  I really did not have any of the supplies used for any of the examples, lol, so I improvised.  I used Post-It Tape 1" strips to create the pattern.  I cut the stips into 1/2" strips and created the plaid background.  I have to say this was not my first attempt, around the 3rd time I was happy with what I made.  In retrospect, even though I like the colors I chose, I would have used more traditional colors.

The stripes are created with Distress Oxides Twisted Citron and Barn Door.  In this photo the stripes look yellow and pink, but they are much darker IRL. I used a Memory Box die for the sled and a Tim Holtz die set for the greenery.  I was going to draw a gold line on some of the strips, but  NONE of my gold pens would work.  Sigh....
