Try a New Technique is the current challenge at Lawnscaping Challenge.
I pretty much will try any new technique if I like it, but have never done a partial die cut border. I love cards with this technique. I have my eye on a border die that I like a lot, but haven't gotten around to buying it yet. So, I didn't really have a border die that I was interested in using, I did this instead.
I used Lawn Fawn's Our Friendship Grows stamps and dies on the border of this card. I cut the border using the separate dies in the set. After trying twice to get it right, the third time was the charm. :) I heat embossed the images in white and water colored them and the background with distress inks. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn's Happy Everything. I do like the way this turned out but I think it would have been easier with an actual border die. Lol.
Thanks for stopping by.

Ellen Hutson's Mix-It Up Challenge
Ellen Hutson's Mix-It Up Challenge sounded so interesting I wanted to try it.
The challenge was to use Avery Elle and Essentials by Ellen products on a card. I love this idea! :)
This is the card I made:
I recently purchased Essentials by Ellen Wish Big stamp set, I thought it was super cute, all the images are so versatile! I paper pieced the hippo and hat and he (well I guess it could be a she) turned out so cute!! The balloons are also from the set, I stamped them, colored with Copics, used some Clear Wink of Stella, and then I covered them with glossy accents, sorry it doesn't show up that well. I added the sentiment from Avery Elle Oh Happy Day stamp set. I liked the way this card turned out. :0
Thanks for visiting and I will see you soon!

Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge -May 10-16
Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge this week is a Picture Perfect Challenge.

This is the challenge picture.
I have to admit that I did not realize that this was a picture of a table. :) Then I saw the flowers and the place setting and then it dawned on me! duh! I liked the chevron pattern in the table, so that became the background of my card.
I stenciled the background using distress ink. I used Paper Smooches Zoo Crew stamp set for the giraffe, colored him with Copics, and added a googly eye (can't resist googly eyes). The balloons are die cut using PS Balloon dies from white card stock and colored with Copics. The dots, stars and stripes were added with a jelly roll pen. I used embroidery floss to attach the balloons to the giraffe. The giraffe and balloons are mounted on foam squares as is the sentiment. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches Hullabaloo, heat embossed in white on black card stock. I think it is very cute. :)

CAS(E) this Sketch #122
CAS(E) this Sketch #122 features this sketch.
I saw this sketch and was looking at a few stamp sets to decide what I was going to make. I saw the umbrella image in the Simon Says Stamp Abby's Spring Flowers stamp set and knew I had found my design This is what I made:
First I mixed clear embossing paste with distress ink and stenciled in the background using Simon Says Stamp Rain Rain Go Away stencil. For once I had purchased the dies for this stamp set, so I didn't have to spend so much time fussy cutting. :) I heat embossed the sentiment on the tags in white. This was pretty easy to put together and I like the result ;-)

Lawnscaping Challenge #105
Lawnscaping Challenge #105 is Watercolors!
I love watercolors, and I need to get waaay better at it! :) I have been using an inexpensive watercolor set, but felt I needed to step it up a bit. It was fine for basics, but I couldn't get consistent colors and when I mixed colors I wasn't happy with the results. Last month I bought a Sakura Koi watercolor set, and it has such beautiful, vibrant colors. I didn't want to spend too much money and this set seemed to fit the bill right now. This is the card I made.
I watercolored the tree and leaves freehand and used Lawn Fawn's Home Sweet Home stamp set for the rest of the images. I did watercolor and cut out the nest and eggs so I could mount it on some glue dots for a little dimension I masked the images with rubber cement and then watercolored the sky. Recently one of my daughter's friends announced a pregnancy and I am going to send her this card.

Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge
Paper Smooches Challenge for May 3-9 is Anything Goes.

This is the card I made for the challenge.
I used Paper Smooches Fancy Frames to cut out frames from patterned paper and arranged them on the card front. The flower images are from Paper Smooches Lovely Thoughts and Blossoming Buds. I stamped some with ink and others were colored with Copics. I cut them out and used glue dots to attach to card front, the glue dots give just enough depth and no bulk like foam squares would. I added some enamel dots because the empty spaces were bothering me :-).
Now I am going to go outside and enjoy this beautiful spring day!
Thanks for visiting today.
